Hello, everybody! Welcome to another issue of Kite's Brave Blog! May has started so let us get down to business!

And I would like to happily announce you that me and sephanx will now give you all what we can offer to you in the Global Version of Brave Frontier! Sephanx will be available whenever and wherever!

Not everything can be done alone. There is always someone out here that can help me! That's what good friends are for!

Let's start with some wondrous news out there!

Kite's Conspiracy: Issue #3 The Legacy of Zelban

It's time to give you some information about the name of "Zelban". To those who still doesn't have a clue about it, the name "Zelban" is referred as the "Masters of La Veda Fencing". It was first inherited by Dolk whom originated this name and later passed down from generation to generation.

Not going to list it down chronologically, but here are some Zelbans that you may love to remember about:

The Zelban during the timeline of the Ten-Winged Tormentor - During this time, it stated that he has a scar on his face and decides to conceal his face with a mask. It is also revealed that it was this Zelban who taught Atro with the La Veda style of Fencing. Later on, he was recruited by the Lotus colored Axe wielder known as Michele in hopes of fighting Melchio, the Ten-Winged Tormentor who laid Lizeria to waste. After Melchio was partially defeated, he later granted such power that even Zelban was knocked out and lost his will to fight, ridiculed by Michele, Zelban stood up and fight back again, until Duel-GX decided to initiate Code 666 to put an end to Melchio. This Zelban's fate was unknown but he ultimately died much later.

Laberd, The Swordsman during the Dawn of Elgaia - Laberd was left an orphan after he was rescued from Grand Gaia and lived the rest of his life in solitude. Much later, Dolk later appeared (who is now of old age) and forced Laberd to learn the art of Veda Fencing. As his training continues, Laberd later decided to leave from Dolk's care who stated that they have a different path to pursue. He later became a member of the Randall Empire in order to carry out missions, and by all means of defeating demons in Elgaia. His fate is unknown of what happened to him in the end.

Lugina, the leader of the 23rd Division of the Demon Slayers, "Sky Garden" - This vulgar-mouthed, talented & strategic Summoner of the Akras Summoners' Hall is the present "Zelban" in the game's timeline. Lugina back then was trained in the art of the La Veda Fencing style during his days in the Elgaia Federation and later inherited the name of "Zelban", however Lugina refuse to accept such title because he wanted his own title for the reason that he always wanted to be the best. He later sealed his La Veda fencing techniques much later until they traveled to Ishgria alongside the Summoner, Karl, Paris and Seria. It was not further revealed until later in the story from his childhood friend, Bertz Klauser who told all of his friends that he has inherited the name of Zelban, much to the other Summoners' shock. He later used it to fight against the Summoner. Defeated yet a bit satisfied, he joined the Summoner again. He fully unleashed his La Veda Fencing techniques during the fight against one of the clones of the Heresy Demon Kalon.

    My Review for Darvanshel:

As one mitigator must hope, you must be at your highest peak to attain full defensive prowess. This is what Darvanshel gave to all of us right here!

His Leader Skill is much improved apart from his innate status nullifying and damage reduction chance effect, he now also gives 40% of Max HP as boost to all Units and he is the first Unit to null Defense Ignore effects! Now no armor breakers can penetrate it now! HAHAHAHAHA!

His Extra Skill provides Elemental damage nullification, not even Water type can hurt him but one bit now. And his BB/SBB will be equipped with status nullification effect for 3 turns.

Now, his mitigating BB can now target all allies instead of the usual one. It is also equipped with a 15% Max HP boost that can be really handy over tough battles!

His SBB has a really good conversion effect of 50% ATK relative to DEF. And take note that his DEF buff boosts 140% of it on both BB/SBB.

His UBB is an instant nutshell apart from the 3-turn 75% mitigation, it also converts 100% of the Unit's Max HP and turns the value of them into ATK and DEF! Anima Units and those with high HP can absolutely take advantage of this!

Where could his effectiveness stand if you may ask...?

For those who are utterly annoyed at not clearing Fire FG, he can be a great choice for a leader if you will go in the defensive way. Also, Darvanshel also works over contents where enemies who keeps on using Def.Ignore.

Colosseum can also be of a good Defensive leader, however the sad case is that he doesn't even provide much protection.

All the love for our favorite mitigator is back! So put his effectiveness to good use.

Fun Fact: Darvanshel has 2 Spheres related to him, the Royal Shield and the Exyl Shield. He is one of the 'old' people who are originated from Sama alongside Bargus of the later batch, both sporting a Shield as their contribution before the great war.

    My Rating for Darvanshel:

    Unit Kit:

Unit Art/Lore: 8/10 -> His art... really confuses me! Is he standing or...?
    Leader Skill: 10/10

Duelmex @ Lv. 100 + Light Mecha God + Miracle Totem + Light Totem +
Metal Mimic + Legend Stone + 1,500,000 Zel

    My Review for Elderex:

Another utterly worthless unit turned into a mayhem of more shocking revelation as Elderex comes forth in its 7* form, would this overpowered Dragon King of Paralysis can stand above the odds?

From a regular Ares' Excelsior Leader to a powerehouse BB managing unit. The added effect are max HP and ATK boost, BB filling when Sparking and fills BB gauges every turn.

Being a creature with the nature of stunning its victims, anything that attacks it will be inflicted with Paralysis alongside its self damage boost of 100% against status inflicted enemies.

Elderex's BB has a damage mod of 1200% and hits 40 times at random enemies. Combine it with adding Paralysis effect to attacks makes this BB worthwhile to use over contents where enemies are vulnerable to Paralysis. It also boosts 30% in the BB gauge fill rate!

SBB provides only a high chance of inflicting Paralysis, at 80% chance with an added 160% damage boost against status inflicted enemies and its 30% BB gauge fill rate boost.

UBB provides a 100% chance of inflicting random status ailments, while adding a 100% Paralysis effect to all allies' attack for 3 turns. The damage boost against status inflicted enemies is also high when adding up other similar buffs, at 300% damage boost!

Elderex has its good use in Raid Battles and in Arena/Colosseum because of its Paralysis counterattack via Extra Skill. Although a small competition lies ahead over several Units in terms of BB fill rate boosting and status inflicting units.

However, Elderex can prove worth the shot against Beiorg in Raid Class 6 due to its lower body part being vulnerable to Paralysis. Otherwise most contents has Paralysis immunity, hence Elderex's use is solely limited to either Raid or Arena/Colosseum.

Fun Fact: Elderex, back in its oldest form is one of the first few Units alongside Grafl who can utilize a Random attack BB-type.

For those who are not familiar with it yet, Random attack is in fact, targets random enemies when a BB is used and uses its true damage modifier, in which its power is at its base. The con of this is that Critical hits are impossible with it but they can be Sparked.

One advantage of Random attack BBs is that they are not affected by RNG in terms of inflicting status ailments. For example, its BB hits 40 times and it has 40 tries to inflict Paralysis at a low proc. rate, unlike the usual one chance rate when using regular BBs that targets single or multiple/all enemies.

    My Rating for Elderex:

    Unit Kit:

    Unit Art/Lore: 7/10
    Leader Skill: 9/10
    Extra Skill: 10/10 -> Arena/Colos lovers beware!
    BB/SBB: 10/10
    UBB: 10/10

    Effectiveness:

    Quest Effectiveness: 8/10
    Arena Effectiveness: 9/10
    Colosseum Effectiveness: 9/10
    Raid Effectiveness: 8/10
    Trials/GGC Effectiveness: N/A
    Global-exclusive Effectiveness: N/A
Frontier Gate Effectiveness: 5/10 (on Light FG), 5/10 (on FG1), N/A (on 6* FG)
    Frontier Hunter Effectiveness: 6/10
    Grand Quest Effectiveness: 4/10

    Overall Rating: 7.5/10

Harbinger of Sin and Judgment, Shadow Retribution Kajah

    Unit # 1301
    Element: Dark
    Gender: Genderless
    Rarity: 7*
    Max Level: 120
    Cost: 40
    Arena AI Type: 3

Stats at Lv. 120 (Lord-type only)

    HP: 6376
    (+1000)
    ATK: 2832 (+600)
    DEF: 2254 (+300)
    REC: 1957 (+400)

    Max Imp Cap Type: Attack-Type

    Leader Skill: Arbiter's Authority
80% boost to Atk, enormously boosts Atk when HP is low & considerably boosts BB Atk
(80% base ATK + 1.2% boost per 1% HP lost & 100% BB Atk boost)

    Extra Skill: Condemned Pride
Boosts Atk relative to remaining HP & reduces BB gauge required for BB
(0.5% boost per 1% HP remaining & 20% reduction to BB gauge required to use BB)

    Brave Burst: Legrati Megira
15 combo Dark attack on all foes, adds probable Injury effect to attack for 3 turns & considerably boosts BB Atk for 3 turns
(20% chance to inflict Injury to attack & 250% boost to BB Atk)

    Super BB: Magnes Nevil Agol
17 combo powerful Dark attack on all foes (damage relative to remaining HP) & high probability of Injury effect
(7% boost to multiplier per 1% HP remaining; 200% damage mod at low HP & 900% damage mod at full HP & 80% chance to inflict Injury)

    Ultimate BB: Valefall
23 combo massive Dark attack (damage relative to remaining HP), enormously boosts Atk and Spark damage for 3 turns & hugely boosts BB Atk for 3 turns
(8% boost to multiplier per 1% HP remaining; 1000% damage mod at low HP & 1800% damage mod at full HP, 250% ATK boost, 130% Spark damage boost & 250% BB Atk boost)

    How to Evolve:
Evil God Kajah @ Lv. 100 + Dark Mecha God +
Miracle Totem + Dark Totem + Metal Mimic + Legend Stone + 1,500,000 Zel

    My Review for Kajah:

A pure damaging Kajah is what we are going to experience, however Kajah also falls as a victim of several units with better abilities. But either way, let us check Kajah's new kits.

Being one of the most frightening Leaders in the Arena the lower their HP is lost, the more deadlier their attack power is. It also boosts 100% to BB Atk.

Its Extra Skill does the opposite, in which ATK power is increased the higher the HP is, and Kajah also has a BB gauge cashback of 20%.

Inflicting Injury in both ways, BB buffs them to their attacks for 3 turns, while SBB inflicts them naturally.

BB Atk boost in BB is 250%. Kajah's SBB inflicts more damage the higher its HP is. From the lowest damage mod of 200% at 1 HP and 900% at full HP.

UBB has a base 1000% damage mod at low HP and 1800% at high HP, it also boosts 250% ATK, 130% Spark damage and 250% BB Atk boost.

If you think that Kajah is much scarier than you think it is, they you better watch out once you fight one in the Arena, think of it like a lower extent of what Hadaron is.

As always, Kajah's use is limited to several contents, especially in Dark Frontier Gate, Kajah overall remains a damage-based Unit with slight enhancements added to it.

Fun Fact: Kajah is the only Unit of the Fallen Gods batch to have a 7* form. Kajah is also one of the few Units to have an ATK modification LS depending on the current HP of its other members, the other being Zurg, the Global-exclusive Hadaron and the limited-time only Randolph.

    My Rating for Kajah:

    Unit Kit:

    Unit Art/Lore: 4/10
    Leader Skill: 8/10
    Extra Skill: 7/10
    BB/SBB: 8/10

    Unit Review: Logan

As promised, I'll be reviewing one Legacy 7* Unit that was released that I haven't made a review for them yet. Let us take a peek on one of the so called "meta" unit of the 6* era's Five Lights' user, Logan.

His further corruption was turned into a halt, thanks to his friend Vishra's sacrifice.

Cursed Dark Armor, Vicious Twin-Edge Logan

    Unit # 1137
    Element: Dark
    Gender: Male
    Rarity: 7*
    Max Level: 120
    Cost: 40
    Arena AI Type: 2

Stats at Lv. 120 (Lord-type only)

    HP: 6532
    (+1100)
    ATK: 2608 (+440)
    DEF: 2056 (+440)
    REC: 2193 (+440)

    Max Imp Cap Type: Balanced

    Leader Skill: Five Lights' Epidemic
30% boost to max HP and 100% boost to Atk when 5 elements or more are present & high probable infliction of random status ailment
(15% chance to inflict Weak, Injury, Sick & 10% chance to inflict Poison, Paralysis, Curse)

    Extra Skill: Cursed Fire Armor
Probable slight HP recovery when attacked & absorbs HP when attacking
(25% chance of healing 20% HP of damage taken & absorbs 5~8% of HP)

    Brave Burst: Agreas Soul
14 combo powerful Dark attack on all foes & probable random status ailment infliction
(40% chance to inflict Weak, Injury, Sick & 30% chance to inflict Poison, Paralysis, Curse at any level)

    Super BB: Cursed Armor's Coffin
18 combo powerful Dark attack on all foes, enormously boosts Atk in exchange for 50% reduction of own Def for 3 turns & damage taken greatly boosts BB gauge for 3 turns
(300% self ATK boost, and fills 4~7 BC when attacked at max level)

    Ultimate BB: Dual Soul Crusher
21 combo massive Dark attack on all foes, greatly boosts max HP & boosts Atk relative to max HP for 3 turns
(20% boost to Max HP, 20% ATK boost relative to Max HP)

    How to Evolve:
Inferno Swords Logan @ Lv. 100 + Dark Mecha God +
Miracle Totem + Dark Totem + Dragon Mimic + Legend Stone + 1,500,000 Zel

    My Review for Logan:

From total cliche Unit to a total Virus unit one way or another. Similar to how Vishra deflects ailments, Logan does the complete opposite; inflicting them when attacking.

His variation of the Five Lights' Leader Skill is somewhat unique to him with the usual 30% HP and 100% ATK boost when 5 or more elements are in the same squad, and with a probable chance of inflicting random status ailments when attacking.

His HP drain ability is now converted to his own Extra Skill along with a chance of healing back 20% of the damage as HP at 25% chance, so even when using normal attacks, he can still drain some HP right there.

A very typical BB for Logan apart from damage, with a chance of inflicting a random ailment and now attacks all enemies.

His SBB is quite similar to his 6* version in which 50% of his DEF is reduced for 3 turns but in return provides a striking 300% ATK boost to himself. And like Vishra, he also fills BB gauges when damaged with the same value as his friend, all for 3 turns.

Logan's UBB is somewhat a lackluster with only 1000% damage modifier, it also permanently boosts everybody's Max HP by 20% until the battle ends, while 20% of the total HP is converted into ATK power for 3 turns.

Logan's effectiveness in his skillset makes him a totally devastating Leader for the Colosseum and in the Arena, so those who are unlucky enough to face him in combat, make sure that you prepare status nullifying leaders if possible.

There are already way too many status inflicting units that severely outclasses Logan in more ways than the other, but as for people who do Colosseum, he can make a good advantage from your enemies. Don't take my word for granted. Logan still has a lot of cons such as lack of versatility in his BBs, a temporary glass cannon much like Farlon's and how his skillset has only given him small effects/boosts.

Fun Fact: Believe it or not, it was Logan who taught Faris of the dual sword fighting style. His Extra Skill alludes his best friend Vishra, who is in fact the Cursed Fire Armor, as in his lore states that he carried a piece of his armor with the words "No. 6" carved upon it, which also alludes to Vishra being one of the Six Armors. Logan is also one of the Units who has a connection with the Dark Magician, Shida.

    My Rating for Logan:

    Unit Kit:

    Unit Art/Lore: 9.6/10
    Leader Skill: 8/10
    Extra Skill: 4/10
    BB/SBB: 6/10
    UBB: 6/10

    Effectiveness:

    Quest Effectiveness: 5/10
    Arena Effectiveness: 8/10
    Colosseum Effectiveness: 9/10
    Raid Effectiveness: 4/10
    Trials/GGC Effectiveness: 4/10
    Global-exclusive Effectiveness: 3/10
Frontier Gate Effectiveness: 8/10 (on Dark FG), 9/10 (on FG1), 3/10 (on 6* FG)
    Frontier Hunter Effectiveness: 5/10
    Grand Quest Effectiveness: 5/10

    Overall Rating: 6.4/10

Burning Spear Lars @ Lv. 80 + Miracle Totem+ Fire Totem + Fire Totem + Fire Pot + Metal Mimic + 1,000,000 Zel

      My Review for Lars:
First of all, for a blind spear-wielder, he has a pretty bad-as$ name. Lars? Gumi hit the nail perfectly when they translated his name.

His LS is based off of Zurg's, with the additional 200% boost to BB ATK. For a 6* unit, pretty nifty, I guess.

BB is a 30 hit random attack with 15% Injurytouch and 10% Paratouch buffs, which is, imo, the best combination of status ailments you can get, which synergises with his random attack as each attack is treated as a separate attack on its own, meaning he could inflict ailments 30 times.

His SBB on the other hand is a 30 hit AOE attack which boosts damage against statused foes by 160%, and boosts EWD dealt by 25%. At the very least, it synergises with his stat-inflicting BB.

With regards to unit compatibility, basically you want him to get more bulkier since his LS doesn't provide any form of survivability.

      Unit Art and Lore: 9/10
      Stats: 7.5/10
      Leader Skill: 8.5/10
      BB/SBB: 8.5/10
      Quest Effectiveness: 10/10
Arena, CA and Colo Effectiveness: 9/10
      Raid Effectiveness: 7/10
      Trials and GGC Effectiveness: 5/10
      GLEX Effectiveness: 6/10
      FG / FH Effectiveness: 7/10
      Grand Quest Effectiveness: 7/10

Lars simply cannot stand on his own in today's meta. His one redeeming point however, is his potential to become a great status inflictor in arena thanks to his Brave Burst.

      How to Evolve:
Frozen Blade Kyle @ Lv. 80 + Miracle Totem + Water Totem + Water Totem + Water Pot + Metal Mimic + 1,000,000 Zel

      My Review for Kyle:
Kyle is the group's leader, and their batch honestly reminds me of Suicide Squad.

His LS is the very first of its own, normal attacks have a chance of turning into AOE attacks. In his case, he has a 30% chance of inflicting AOE attacks with normal attacks alone.

It is only natural that his skillsets synergise quite well with his LS. His BB boosts crit rate by 45% and doubles hit count.

His SBB then boosts crit damage by 100%, and triples hit count. Think of all the possible AOE attacks with that SBB. If you really need to find a fault with Kyle's kit, he's not autofriendly when relying on him alone for critical based buffs.

As for unit compatibility, like Lars, he doesn't provide a lot of survivability, but who really cares about that? You want to exploit that LS by pairing him with glass cannon units (Mifune), and units who grant offensive buffs outside of BB ATK.

      Unit Art and Lore: 8.5/10
      Stats: 7.5/10
      Leader Skill: 9/10
      BB/SBB: 9/10
      Quest Effectiveness: 10/10
Arena, CA and Colo Effectiveness: 10/10
      Raid Effectiveness: 7/10

      GLEX Effectiveness: 6/10
      FG / FH Effectiveness: 8/10
      Grand Quest Effectiveness: 7/10

Ultimately, Kyle is definitely a good contender in Colosseum, his LS alone, if it procs, can be quite devastating, yielding you endless winning streaks in Conqueror Class. Too bad a lot of players also have that in mind.

      How to Evolve:
Machine Lord Heins @ Lv. 80 + Miracle Totem+ Earth Totem + Earth Totem + Earth Pot + Metal Mimic + 1,000,000 Zel

      My Review for Heins:
Heins is the group's tech junkie, and his fascination with technology may just have costed his own life. At least he died doing the thing he's passionate about, right?

First of all, his LS is defensive based; And while spark damage negation might be new to most players, let's face it, not a lot of enemies deal spark damage, so it's pretty forgettable.

His kit gives him a prominent title as Brave Frontier's first F2P mitigator (if we're not counting Barienna), but we've probably got a mitigator of our own while we farmed for him anyway. BB has a fixed damage, which can be quite tempting in arena but not totally reliable as it may not proc, and even if it does, players may find themselves battling against a squad with more than 10,000 HP.

Heins' SBB on the other hand, along with damage and mitigation, grants 1,000 HP Earth Barrier. It's...there, I guess. (That's the only thing I can say)

Units that are compatible with Heins are, quite honestly, the rest of the roles you need to fill, such as nuker, healer, etc. since he already fills the role of a mitigator.

      Unit Art and Lore: 8/10
      Stats: 7.5/10
      Leader Skill: 9/10
      BB/SBB: 8/10
      Quest Effectiveness: 10/10
Arena, CA and Colo Effectiveness: 8.5/10
      Raid Effectiveness: 6/10
      Trials and GGC Effectiveness: 7/10
      GLEX Effectiveness: 5/10
      FG / FH Effectiveness: 6/10
      Grand Quest Effectiveness: 8.5/10

Heins (or Highness in-game) ironically has little to no uses outside of metal parades, and maybe arena as well, but even there you have to take into account the spheres, imps, elgifs and LS of your opponent.

If Dolk was the first Zelban, and he lived to teach Laberd who was around at the Dawn of Elgaia, then Dolk must have lived a really long life...
He was even making Laberd run 10km during the last FH.

I wonder if there was another Zelban before Lugina though.

Well, big bro lozoro ... Hmm, this is what I can think of

Dolk -> founder, before Great War
Zelban (Melchio Timeline) -> before Great War
Laberd -> After Great War, Elgaia Timeline
              Lugina -> Present Zelban

              same thing with Elgaia timeline...

It's better to stay vague about the years. The whole story itself still incomplete yet. There was also a pool about legacy 7* and all they might need to made adjustment to the story from intended. By not mentioning the exact years it'll be easier to manipulate the story or insert something in between.

I kind of forgot about Bertz.... unless Alim decided to make a Mock Unit based on him on the 3rd quest arc.

And come to think of it, Bertz's sword isn't that much as big as Lugina's... (Bertz's sword is a bit thin)

As always, Kite's and sepahnx's guides are 1 of the quickest way to get back into the game thanks to the new units Intro and Reviews. Good job guys and keep up the good work!

I wonder if Lugina OE is about him taking the title of 'Zelban'....... I mean it would be pretty cool to see him in his original forms, after all he was the true 'Zelban' generation.

Yay! I have Elderex! But...... I don't know if I ever gonna use him...... He seems have a little buff clashing with Atro.....

Tell me, did SBB Atro who apparently boost BC Efficacy is clashing with this Dragon's ability? (I think it is......) Why must the name of this skills is getting changed so much till the point I think it can be stack? It would have been simple if ALIM (GUMI the translator) using the terms like any boosting in common general translation, like boost BB Gauge fill rate rather than Boost BC Efficacy......

Dang it....... I knew it!!! GUMI this days was pretty confusing when it comes to naming the translation of the most simple buffs into something else that I think wasn't the same as it was before.... Almost mistook it as buffs that can be stacked with BB Fill Rate if I don't read it with carefully.

Shironui & EynSinned Sorry for the late reply, but the main reason I think Atro is Zelban was because of his OE Lore. If you look at the 2* Atro's Lore till the 7* Atro's Lore, you will see that every single one of them is telling us that he was just another La Veda Swordsman, no specialty. Even though in his 2* & 3* Lore is stated that Atro is seeking and got the teaching by the expert of La Veda Fencing from the recommendation of Friar, his orphanage. However if I checked his OE in Wikia, I saw his teacher was linked by the wikia moderator to Blade Emperor Zelban, in that mist of confusing matters, I want to know the truth whether he was one of them or not..... But as you may said..... Atro maybe did refuse that title........

i'm shocked with the scores you gave for Logan, his LS is quite good actually for Quest, 30% HP and 100% Atk rainbow squad, plus BB boost when damaged, he's actually good with Mikael, because Mikael can boost Logan's def, Also he's actually quite useful too as Sub in Mono-Dark Squad with Magress' Lead, i know he's unpopular due to his clash with Laberd, but you don't need Laberd if you have 2 turns Mitigator Magress. That's my opinion
